Please read this before sending in your application!

We have begun accepting submissions for the 1st Stellar Prize, which would run from February 16, 2018 to February 18, 2019. The deadline of the First Bid for The Stellar Prize is June 11, 2018 by 23:59 WAT.  The entry fee for the First Bid is $5 (approx. 1,800 Naira) for every first entry and $3 (approx. 1,000 Naira) for every other subsequent entry. One can make only a maximum of 50 entries. Only poems and short stories are considered. The Second Bid begins by June 12, 2018 and ends by November 8, 2018 by 23:59 WAT. The entry fee for the Second Bid is $7 (approx. 2,500 Naira) for every first entry and $4 (approx. 1,400 Naira) for each subsequent one. The final and Third Bid begins by November 9, 2018 and ends by February 18, 2019 by 23:59 WAT. The final deadline to submit your entry for The Stellar Prize is February 18, 2019 by 23:59 WAT. The entry fee for the Final Bid is $9 (approx. 3,200 Naira) for the first entry, and $5 (approx. 1,800 Naira) for each subsequent entry. Late applications cannot be appealed. At this point, we would accept only online submissions and payments through our website. Submitting your application signifies that you agree with all guidelines, terms and conditions stated on this website.

The Award would be given under three categories:


1. Junior Stellar Prize (for ages between 14 and 18)
     - only for participants within Africa
  • First Place Winner:  700,000 Naira (approx. $2,000 USD)
  • Second Place Winner: 400,000 Naira (approx. $1,200 USD)
  • Third Place Winner: 200,000 Naira (approx. $600 USD)
  • Plus 4 Honorable Mentions

2. Stellar African Prize (for ages between 19 and 45)
    - only for participants within Africa
  • First Place Winner: 1 Million Naira (approx. $3,000 USD)
  • Second Place Winner: 500,000 Naira (approx. $1,400 USD)
  • Third Place Winner: 250,000 Naira (approx. $700 USD)
  • Plus 4 Honorable Mentions
 
3. The Stellar International Award (for ages between 18 and 45) 
     - only for participants outside Africa
  • First Place Winner: 1 Million Naira (approx. $3,000 USD)
  • Second Place Winner: 500,000 Naira (approx. $1,400 USD)
  • Third Place Winner: 250,000 Naira (approx. $700 USD)
  • Fourth Place Winner: 100,000 Naira (approx. $300 USD)
  • Plus 5 Honorable Mentions
